St. Moritz, at 1,856 metres in the canton of Graubünden, is one of the world's most celebrated alpine resorts and twice an Olympic host city (1928, 1948). It sits at the heart of the Upper Engadine, a high-altitude plateau threaded with a chain of extraordinarily beautiful turquoise lakes: Lej da Segl (Silsersee), Lej da Silvaplana (Silvaplanersee), Lej da San Murezzan (St. Moritzersee) and Lej da Champfèr. To the south, Piz Bernina (4,049m) – the easternmost 4,000-metre peak in the entire Alpine chain – and the vast Morteratsch Glacier define the horizon. From 4,000 metres, the Engadine's high-valley geometry is fully revealed: a luminous chain of lakes in a broad alpine basin, encircled by permanent snowfields.
The nearest certified tandem drop zone is Skydiving Ostschweiz in Altenrhein (canton of St. Gallen, approx. 75 km via the Inn valley). Tandem jumps run from April to October with licensed instructors and all-inclusive packages from CHF 330.
The Engadine from altitude
The Upper Engadine is one of Switzerland's most distinctive landscapes: a wide, sunny, south-west-oriented valley at over 1,800m, with a series of jewel-like lakes along its floor. From 4,000 metres you see this entire chain at once – the lakes shifting from turquoise to deep blue depending on depth and light, the Maloja Pass opening to the south-west towards Italy, and Piz Bernina's glaciated pyramid anchoring the south. It is the kind of panorama you cannot see from any road or gondola. The Inn river (En in Romansh) traces its way north-eastward toward Austria, visible as a silver thread through the valley.

How Does a Tandem Skydive Work?
From arrival to landing – step by step
Arrival & Briefing
You arrive at the drop zone and meet your tandem instructor for a 20-minute ground briefing covering body position, safety procedures and the jump sequence. All equipment is fitted for you personally.
Climb to 4,000 Metres
The aircraft climbs to 4,000 metres in 15–25 minutes. The Rhine valley, Lake Constance and the Graubünden Alps come into view as you gain altitude.
Freefall – 45 to 55 Seconds
You exit the aircraft and experience 45–55 seconds of freefall at up to 200 km/h. The Engadine lake chain glitters below, Piz Bernina and its glaciers fill the southern horizon.
Canopy Flight & Landing
At 1,500m the parachute opens for 5–8 minutes of gliding. Your instructor brings you to a smooth standing landing.
