The Lauterbrunnen Valley is one of the most spectacular glacial landscapes in the Alps. It is enclosed by sheer limestone walls rising up to 300 metres on either side, draped with 72 waterfalls – including the famous Staubbach Falls, which plunge 297 metres in an unbroken free drop. The Jungfrau (4,158m), Mönch (4,107m) and Eiger (3,967m) dominate the southern skyline. J.R.R. Tolkien is believed to have drawn inspiration from Lauterbrunnen for his vision of Rivendell. From 4,000 metres above, you see the entire valley at once – its extraordinary geometry only fully revealed from altitude.
The nearest certified tandem drop zones are Swiss Boogie in Kappelen (canton of Bern, approx. 60 km) and Dropzone 47 in Grenchen (canton of Solothurn, approx. 80 km). Both are reachable in about 60–80 minutes by car. Tandem jumps run from April to October with licensed instructors.

Very few places on Earth reward the aerial perspective as much as Lauterbrunnen. The valley's distinctive U-shape – carved by ancient glaciers – is invisible from the valley floor, where you only see one wall at a time. From 4,000 metres you see the complete picture: both walls simultaneously, the waterfalls as silver threads on the rock, the flat valley floor far below, and the Jungfrau's permanent ice fields gleaming to the south. The Brienzersee and Thunersee appear as twin blue lenses to the north.

How Does a Tandem Skydive Work?
From arrival to landing – step by step
Arrival & Briefing
You arrive at the drop zone and meet your tandem instructor for a 20-minute ground briefing covering body position, safety procedures and the jump sequence. All equipment is fitted for you personally.
Climb to 4,000 Metres
The aircraft climbs to 4,000 metres in 15–25 minutes. The Bernese Oberland panorama unfolds below – the Jungfrau, Mönch and Eiger defining the southern horizon, the Thunersee and Brienzersee glittering to the north.
Freefall – 45 to 55 Seconds
You exit the aircraft and experience 45–55 seconds of freefall at up to 200 km/h. The Lauterbrunnen Valley's sheer walls and silver waterfall threads are visible below, the Jungfrau massif glowing above them.
Canopy Flight & Landing
At 1,500m the parachute opens for 5–8 minutes of gliding. Your instructor brings you to a smooth standing landing in the Bernese Oberland.
